"State of the art" technology has put Carroll County students at an advantage in todays computer driven society. Students who show a specific interest in computers participate in the Student Technology Leadership Program. With lots of extra-curricular activities offered, students may chose to participate in a variety of winning sports programs, be on the celebrated academic team, appear in dramatic presentations, kick up their heels on the dance team, march with the acclaimed band, or join in one of the many clubs.
The Carroll County Public School system leads the area in supplying local industries with a workforce which is educated and highly trained in specific areas of concentration. In 1997, Carroll County Schools was awarded an Urban Rural Opportunities Grant for an amount of $1,800,000.00. As a result of this grant, a partnership was formed between the school system, Kentucky Tech-Carroll County Area Technology Center and Jefferson Community and Technical College and several local industries to address the need of an educated workforce.
Children are introduced to technology as early as elementary school. As the children progress through school, students will explore three technical areas: chemical, electrical and mechanical. Job shadowing follows in their senior year.
Carroll County also has a private school, Christian Academy of Carrollton. The Christian Academy is a non-denominational school which provides an A Beka curriculum for students Kindergarten (4 and 5 year old) through 12th grade. The Academy offers athletic programs to all ages and anticipates the construction of a gymnasium in the years to come on campus.
Jefferson Community and Technical College is dedicated to providing personalized, one-on-one assistance, a hands-on learning environment and an affordable education to its students. Interested students have the unique opportunity to take classes that will truly prepare them for todays highly technical careers in industry. Jefferson Community and Technical College students can also take freshman and sophomore general education classes that they can transfer to a four-year university.
Several major public and private universities are within an hours drive of Carroll County. Most are easily accessible by Interstate. They include: University of Louisville, University of Cincinnati, Bellarmine University, and Hanover College.
